Integrating Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, the revised STEM projects series focuses on the knowledge and understanding of Australian Curriculum: Science and incorporates the essential areas of learner diversity and assessment.
It features six short-term projects and one long-term project for each science sub-strand, with six copies of each project card to allow students to work collaboratively in small groups.
Suitable for children aged 6 - 11+, students will build transferable problem solving and innovative thinking skills for engagement with the everyday world, including Science knowledge and skills, Design and technology skills, Mathematics skills and general capabilities.
This revamped series (updated 2023) also incorporates the essential areas of learner diversity and assessment. There are now Assessment cards located at the front of each sub-strand (Biological, Chemical, Earth and space, Physical) section.
Each box includes either 21 or 28 project cards (depending on year level) and each project card (regardless of year level) contains:
- a task that focuses on a realistic problem,
- criteria to meet for a successful solution to the task,
- a list of suggested materials needed for the task,
- written design process steps to guide the design process,
- design process icons as visual aids to guide students in the design process, and
- an illustration to engage and provide inspiration to students.
(Foundation to Year 2 also contain additional glossary cards which can be used for word walls, explicit teaching or to play games with.)
Note: the revised STEM projects series has been updated for ACARA version 9.0. For schools still using ACARA version 8.4, our original STEM projects series is still available for a limited time.
